court-scene-close-330Shahrzad and Kamal Ghorashian together with the web design expertise of Elizabeth Kent set up Aashpaz.come in 2014 to allow wider access to the results of their research and writing about the history of Persian Cuisine.

Shahrzad worked for BBC World Service, for 23 years before taking early retirement from her position as managing editor. She is the co-author of ‘New Persian Cooking, A Fresh Approach to the Classic Cuisine of Iran’ and contributed to ‘Street Food Around the World: An Encyclopedia of Food and Culture’. She has presented her work in the Food Forum at SOAS, University of London, and her ongoing research will include collaborative work with members of the SOAS Food Studies Centre.

Kamal has an academic background  in medicine and biology. He received his PhD from Reading University in environmental studies. After a lifetime of working with computers, his professional career took him to Information Technology. He took early retirement from his European-wide post to settle in the South of France. He has recently carried out research on early varieties of agricultural plants and the historical development of foodstuffs and in particular the history of Persian cuisine.
